New Year Dharma Conference 2020. “Spring Opening for Mind” Mật Nhất Nguyên’s sharing: WEAVING DREAMS UPON A SPRING NIGHT

Mat Nhat Nguyen is sharing

To many people, traveling provides endless inspiration. I feel the same. I love to take a break from the crowded city and the productivity-obsessed work environment. I love to drive down the majestic national parks, sightsee the sun rising on San Francisco Bay or the endless seashore of the Pacific Ocean. I love the narrow path winding across the village, between Vietnamese style country homes, or the French Indochina architecture that has been part of my childhood during my high school years.

Many of you may already have more journeys than I ever will and therefore have more experience in that regard. Still, I want to share my journeys with you and hope that you will find in there some exciting perspectives.

Since knowing Pure mind Yoga, I have seen a shift in my traveling hobby.

Mat Nhat Nguyen at Song Nguyen Tantra House

First, I realized, I don’t have to go far at all, to new, extraordinary places to feel happy. Through Pure mind yoga, I learned to enjoy. Enjoy is simply the happiness of perception, right in this current state of living, with clothing, food, seats, and bed. This attitude is also according to the teaching of The Buddha, in The Eight Great Causes of Enlightenment Sutra, “always stay content / with modesty, retain the Path / take wisdom solely as careers.”

I don’t need a 6 7 hours trip on the car every weekend like many of my friends, a very short trip to my garden could definitely do the trick. If you start observing closely, you can start to notice hân thưởng everywhere in the Tantra house. Yesterday, I had great conversations with Tantra Mashinaga, and many other Dharma brothers, at so many different tables. We just need a plate of guava, a couple of bottles of water, and the conversation can last hours and hours. Our sharings of good and bads somehow always ended happily and peacefully following the Dharma orbit. It might seem modest enough, but this type of experience is a rare sight to see in daily life.

I had great conversations with Tantra Mashinaga, and many other Dharma brothers, at so many different tables

Second, I realized that things tend to be more beautiful and meaningful under the lens of the Dharma. The rows and rows of mountains are indeed soulless but when I closed my eyes and imagined all that greatness turn into the vast offerings of Samantha Brada Bodhisattva towards the Jingnas. Not only that, I feel tiny among nature, I feel even more so imagining the merits of the Enlightened beings.

Mat Nhat Nguyen and Hum

El Capitan is glorious and majestic in the fiery, red sunrise, but perhaps it is even more magnificent when it reminds me of the pure land of Padmasambhava Guru Rinpoche. That small ponds in the middle of the Tantra house, it has the shape and a name that is so unique that we all tremendously proud of, “The Buddha footprint pond.” You can’t find it anywhere else in the world. If you want to know all the meanings of the buildings inside the Tantra House, please read Chanhtuduy.com. Even the Guru’s cat, Hùm, that cat could potentially become a vehicle so that we can achieve enlightenment while the other cats obviously can’t. When we go on sightseeing, when we talk to each other, even play with the cats,…we can be doing the best activity possible in this Saha world – practicing the Dharma.

Mat Nhat Nguyen and Tantra Upatissa at Song Nguyen Tantra House

Finally, I realize the Dharma path is also a journey, one that will last for a lifetime. Whoever goes on this journey are indeed learning a great deal. Sometimes, you will see me, sitting still, doing nothing but reading and comment on chanhtuduy. But in fact, I am on a journey, visiting the Dharma garden and walking towards the Path of liberation.

A lot of applause with the joyness toward the Mat Nhat Nguyen’s sharing

On this Path, I will see many friends, from all different walks of life, everywhere around the world. Our friends, family, and acquaintances from the worldly life will join us, too, as we practice Bodhicitta in action. I will have joyful conversations; the good and the bad of the mundane world will all become Dharma experience. We will discuss a lot of things, the middle way, how to enjoy life, the belief in the Dharam. We will have a tour guide, sage, compassionate, and especially very, very generous. We will have lots of free things from him, and he will make us laugh whenever the journey starts to get bumpy. The Yidam deity, Avalokiteshvara, is our billionaire father who will fulfill all our rightful wishes. We will have beautiful clothings, comfortable and healthy with no skinny jeans and pants. When we look back, we will see our changes, our improvements, and that life has become better than along the journey.  And we will reach our goal, our very last goal for this journey, to liberate from Samsara to the Pure land of Amitabha Buddha.

Dear Holy Guru,

Thank you for your wisdom and compassion. Thank you for leading us on the path towards the final liberation. May I get started on the Path to liberate all sentient beings.

Om Mani Padme Hum.

Dear Guru thanks for sharing this article.
I am very pleased after reading the feelings shared by Mat Nhat Nguyen about his 2020 Dharma conference. He no longer needs to search happiness in worldly objects as he is enjoying the blessings of Guru, Yidam and beautiful looks of Tantra House and talking to Dharma brothers. Hope his righteous wishes may come true and he may get liberated and reach pure land one day.

May Guru and his Consort live long for benefits of other beings.
May all beings be free from suffering and get enlightened.

    Om Mani Padme Hum..

  8. Tantra Maruta says:
The world is full of consequences that most cannot understand. As a result, people tend to look for some places where they think could uplift them from where they’ve been felt so down. They search for people, words that could alleviate their emotional burden, company of some friends that they can lean on. The greatest challenge sometimes is when they found nothing and no one. As a result, they mock on their own. They prisoned themselves into a four corners of their room. Wandering, seeking, living the questions unanswered in their mind.

Dharma has been one outlet for some. Others can’t take their thinking out from it. I’ve been out for quite times, though still in touch with one of my great friend who has been a part of chantuduy. She’s been so great that she’s making ways to put my step back here reading articles.

I am one among those who have been in hardship holding to some hope of being enlightened. Being away from things that I cannot comprehend. Maybe, some times, one day, I’ll be soon ok.

May all beings be well and safe.

    Tantra Maruta, from the Philippines.

    Om Mani Padme Hum 🙏 🙏 🙏
